NIMBIN MEDICAN March 27

Nimbin’s HEMP EMBASSY hasn’t held a MEDICAN in over a year and we are looking forward to coming together and sharing our experiences again, says Embassy President Michael Balderstone.

“We’re so fortunate in this part of the world to have some enlightened doctors who embrace and understand using cannabis as medicine. Their training in physiology and pharmaceuticals make them ideal for advising not just beginners, but hippies also, on using weed as medicine. We know it works, but they can explain how and help with fine tuning.

“The medical properties of cannabis are in the news every day now. Just this week they discovered CBD can have not only a protective role with the Covid virus but also a therapeutic role “effectively reversing” the hyperinflammatory response brought on by the virus.

“Also this week out of Israel came the first scientific confirmation that microdosing THC actually works for chronic pain, just as our Aussie doctors were told not to recommend it to patients as there was no evidence of cannabis working for chronic pain! It’s not easy sorting out which is the fake news and that’s why we have such gatherings as the Medican this Saturday in Nimbin.”

“Doctor John Teh from the PlantMed Clinic in Brisbane is on to speak first starting at 11 am, followed by Dr Jamie Rickord from the Ananda Clinic in Byron Bay. Then after lunch ex magistrate David Heilpern will tell us why he is so passionate about the drug driving tests, especially on cannabis, and why he thinks Australia will be last in the western world to abandon the war on drugs. I’m sure he will also be happy to answer legal questions.”

“The Medican is in the Nimbin Town Hall or School of Arts, in the centre of the village, and we aim to live stream it from the hemp embassy facebook page. It will also be on YouTube in no time if you cannot make it, but nothing compares to the real thing!”
