Consultation: Single Licence Model
Last years’ Report on the Review of the Narcotic Drugs Act 1967 by Professor John McMillan AO made 26 recommendations, all of which have been accepted by the government. This includes a recommendation to replace the current licensing scheme, under which licences for cultivation and production, research and manufacture are granted separately, with a single licence model. The consultation period for the new licence model remains open until February 3, 2020.
Australian Medicinal Cannabis Approval Statistics
Up to 31 December 2019, the total number of approvals by the TGA of SAS Category B applications for unapproved medicinal cannabis products was more than 28,000. That number refers to total approvals since 1992 – 28 years ago. However, the TGA notes a majority of the approvals have occurred since 2016, the year Australia’s Narcotics Act was amended.

Decriminalization & Home Grows Proposed In West Virginia
A West Virginia lawmaker is renewing her push to decriminalize possession up to 225 grams (about 8 ounces) by adults 21-and-older and allow them to grow up to 12 plants. The measure would allow individuals 21-and-older to “use, grow, possess, transport and give away cannabis and homemade cannabis products without remuneration.” The provisions would allow gifts of up to 30 grams and the transport of up to 60 grams. The previous version of the bill also included expungement provisions and would require the counties to “review all arrest and conviction record of every cannabis offender of every person convicted of a cannabis offense beginning in calendar year 1937 to the present.”
New York Gov. Includes Legalization in 2021 Budget
