Hemp Embassy Headlines Issue 590 Dec 22 2023

Ello There,
Thanks for joining me for Edition #590 of the Hemp Headlines.
I’ve really enjoyed some of the stories that have been in the news this week. There’s so much good stuff happening it’s actually starting to feel like the general populace and EVEN MORE SO the Gubberment are starting to get it.
I was filled with joy to see Wandarra, Townsville, in Far North Queensland, going ahead in leaps and bounds. Townsville is my hometown and it’s so great to see Hemp on the agenda, especially with the level of red tape that they must be enduring.I’ve had a little bit of experience with this and while none of it is unreasonable, contact for Hemp Farmers starting out can be difficult to say the least.I congratulate them on their recent win at “The Smart Business Awards”.Decortication and Processing is now becoming prominent, that is going to be a real industry breaker for Australia.
New Zealand has also been in the news a lot recently.
Greenfern Industries: “New Zealand’s Greenfern Industries (NZX: GFI) has a green light for its first commercial cannabis harvest from its new cultivation, drying and packaging facility in Taranaki. Greenfern says it has met and exceeded the stringent NZ Minimum Quality Standards for the facility’s first cannabis crop.”
I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with a few of the communities in NZ and I must say their knowledge and experience truly shows, not just as farmers but as business people willing to go out and make it happen. Proof is in the pudding, Thanks for your efforts 🙂

Cannabis & Workplace Hazards???With now possibly hundreds of Medical Cannabis groups on Socials and the web, I do frequently engage with people who are in that very position of
“Do I tell my employer? and what happens if I do?”
For the most part, I’ve been informed that while it’s not a huge issue on pre employment, there is no consistency across Industry. Brian Walker has addressed this multiple times. This Mondaq article discusses and gives some great food for thought.
Won’t go too far into this one, but check out “NSW Police Commissioner Brett McFadden” in the Guardian this week. I just can’t even… it’s absurd, in fact the story is almost entirely incorrectly fact checked. This story has garnered a lot of attention across the Medical Cannabis Community and alike.
And finally with so much regulation being reformed around “Medicinal Cannabis advertising” (Something we’ve seen businesses charged for in recent times), The TGA has released new guidelines. In some part, this is because of the public and private drive to advertise on socials and the web, as most of the Community Guidelines are governed by regional laws.
Have a wonderful Xmas and New Year!!!
These times are to share with those we hold closest to our heart, you never know what’s next, don’t squander it.
