High Headliners!

It was a big deal early this year when NSW Police were given the power to divert people from the court system for personal possession of any drug. So far they've diverted less than 7%! Less than 3% of Aboriginal peoples! So it's one thing to introduce these good improvements, but quite another to get them actually happening.

We keep asking the police to back off on personal use, but this is their job, their livelihood, their war that they've been fighting now for decades. It must be very hard for them to admit they've actually been hurting people more than helping them. And on a huge scale. I have no doubt in fifty years we'll be seriously embarrassed by what we've done to each other with this “drug war”.

I hope the NSW government feels at least a little embarrassed by the Drug Summit we waited years for them to have. I haven't read one positive story about it. It even embedded the stigma of using illegal substances further, like we are all addicts and need help. It's like science gone mad for me.

Unless we can do randomised, double blind, placebo controlled, crossover trials we can't declare with any certainty that cannabis really can help migraine sufferers, for example. It's irrelevant that people, like myself, stopped getting migraines entirely, once we discovered cannabis. After years of blinding, vomit inducing, shockers! No wonder, in ‘Jesus’ day’, pot was called ‘God’s gift’.

The Psilocybin Symposium in Nimbin last Saturday was a great success and many thanks to all who made it happen. We're committed to continuing important conversations like this and there may well be another one before MardiGrass where the entheogenic talks have become the most popular of all. It will be on Youtube soon.
