HEMP EMBASSY HEADLINES ISSUE #650 | 10 APRIL 2025

High Headliners!

We had a couple of dry days, just enough to get Plantem Park slashed in readiness for the Hemp Olympix at MardiGrass. This is the 30th Olympix year and we’re making special commemorative medals for the occasion. The 2025 MardiGrass program is to be sent to the printer today and should also be on the MardiGrass website

At the same time, candidate registrations for the Election need to be in this week and Legalise Cannabis looks to be running about fifty candidates, including in the Senate. We have a lot of members, but not many getting involved at election time. No doubt the stigma still keeps most in the shadows, but weed love help at the pre-polls if you can!

I keep wondering if anyone is going to mention the ‘drug war’ at all, in the Election. Ukraine and Gaza are on the news every night, but the drug war, do people even remember it’s a war any more? Drug busts and shootouts are in the paper daily, but do people ever question how this war is going? Endless peace talks trying to stop Ukraine and Gaza but is anyone trying to stop the drug war? The endless and clearly unwinnable drug war our government has signed us up for, costing a fortune every day, in many different ways.

Are Albo and Dutton happy about the way it’s going? Are we winning, or are drugs winning? Our jails are overflowing and courts are full, especially with Aboriginals. 3% of our population but 30% of the jail inhabitants! But anyone speaking about it in the election campaign? No sign of it and a good chance neither of them will even mention it. So does this war just go on forever without being seriously questioned?

We all know drug use is really a health issue, people just trying to feel better, have less pain. Do we keep locking people up who prefer natures plants to pills? Is this a permanent thing? If Legalise Cannabis can get a Senator elected we should ask for a review of the whole drug war, I think. Let’s hear from the experts on how it’s going, socially and financially. We know full well what they’ll say, so I guess that’s why no one will mention it, in the next few weeks.

Love to everyone.
