High Headliners!

So far we’ve had a wonderful summer here, not too hot and regular rain. The country has been exploding in growth, and not just the nyarndi!

Talking about growth, nothing compares to cannabis sales in America. They continue to explode and there’s an interesting story below saying how education is driving it. After all, we’ve been lied to about cannabis for a century now and dispensaries offering education workshops make sense.

That’s been our life in Nimbin’s HEMP Embassy for decades now, with endless visitors wanting to learn about pot’s medicinal properties. The other side to the stigma coin is that Nimbin would be the best drug educated community in the country, with a lot of long-term unemployed!

I just see a massive win-win if we are allowed to use our experience to legalise a cottage industry instead of bowing to corporates, as happens in monopoly games.

The NSW police are struggling, as their numbers dwindle, to keep up with what is expected of them and it’s become a ridiculously impossible scenario. No amount of pay increases can fix that. It’s time they supported a change in the war on cannabis, as it is, in fact, the perfect medicine for their accumulated PTSD.

Music Feature

Marijuana Australiana

“This song has been written for inclusion in a Nimbin musical production about the joys of smoking pot, so obviously the performance of this songs often caused a fuss with the conservatives“, The Bushwackers.

The song, Marijuana Australiana, was first performed in the late 1970s and recorded in 1981 for The Bushwackers album, Faces in the Street (see above). The Bushwackers formed at La Trobe University in Melbourne in the early 1970s.

The Bushwackers 50th Anniversary Exhibition is a complete online anthology, a rich celebration of five decades of band members, music, discography, stories, images, video and a collection of lost tapes found in the attic. Made with assistance from Australia Council arts funding, the exhibition takes a journey from 1971 until now.
